Huawei’s 5G vision: Moving toward digital society

An unrecognized truth about Huawei is that it is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company who implemented 3G and 4G wireless network in many countries. The company thus has well realized on potential and constraints of the previous generations of wireless network.

Huawei’s vision for 5G era therefore is not only well-defined how it should do, but also perceivable imagination how the world will be changed under the new communication systems.

Huawei’s vision for 5G is thus not only a 10Gbps individual user experience, but also having capable of extremely low latency and response times. Deployment of these networks will be built upon both new radio access technologies (RTA) and evolved existing wireless technologies including LTE, HSPA, GSM and Wi-Fi.

5G wireless networks must be able to support the connections for at least 100 billion devices, while still maintain 1,000-fold gains in capacity. Breakthroughs in wireless network innovation will also drive economic and social growth in entirely new ways.
The 5G network of Huawei’s perspective will realize networks capable of providing zero-distance connectivity between people and connected machines.

Massive capacity for delivery of services will allow connections between end users and the network be made at “faster than thought” speeds, so fast that the apparent distance between connected people and connected machines will shrink to a virtual “zero distance” gap. An instant immediacy in mobile service will lay the foundation for a while new set of mobile apps to proliferate and push the capabilities of communications beyond what is currently possible.

A new massive capacity for managing connections will better enable a greater widespread adoption of machine-to-machine services and interactions, and will facilitate innovation in localized mobile service delivery such as such as manufacturing automation controlled wirelessly for 24 hours a day connections.
This higher capability for managing connections has led to new services and applications for new users, individuals and organizations, whose demands for applications are different for their daily working and personal life.

The 5G network therefore must be more flexible and efficient for widely different network deployment setups. It will need to be capable of delivering fibre-like 10 Gbps speeds to make possible ultra-high definition visual communications and immersive multimedia interactions. These will depend on ultra-wide bandwidth with sub-millisecond latencies.

In the same time, this efficient network needs to support a low latency and extremely high reliability such as connection between devices and smart sensors, or text-based messaging that extremely high volume applications require very low data rates and will not be sensitive to latency.

The 5G network has to support diverse and wide range of mobile services including latency from one millisecond to a few seconds, always-on user per cell from a few hundred to several millions cells, duty cycles from mere milliseconds to entire days, and signaling loads from less than 1% to almost 100%.

Those capabilities of wireless network are critical foundational infrastructure for building smart cities, and also essential requirements for mobile industrial automation, and vehicular connectivity.

5G network is also a foundation for connecting everything, known as “Internet of Things- IoT”. It also a foundation of various kinds of things creating new revenue sources such as digital health management, digital government, and digital economy.
