5G is On: Huawei is Ready to Support Thailand “5G is on”, says Huawei Thailand, which participates in today’s “5G Forum” hosted by NBTC, in partnership with Chulalongkorn University, telecom operators and Matichon media group

Bangkok, April 3, 2019 – Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, is read to fully support Thailand’s adoption of 5G technology. This is the message that the global leader conveyed today at the “5G Forum” hosted at Chulalongkorn University by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), in partnership with Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering, telecom operators and Matichon media group.

“Up to now, Huawei has obtained the largest number of 5G commercial contracts (30+) in the world and ‘5G is on’ in lots of innovative countries. In the past years, Huawei keep investing on Thailand telecommunication industry and started to support Thailand 5G testbed from last year. And we will continue to support Thailand’s 5G strategy and help to cultivate the ICT talent in Thailand.” explains Mr. Yang Chaobin, president of Huawei’s 5G product line. “We are glad to see Thailand’s ambition on 5G and definitely Huawei are ready to support and help. We expect to see 5G spectrum roadmap soon under joint work between NBTC and whole industry and Huawei is ready and hope 5G is on in Thailand,” he added.

“Within the past 10 years, 4G has changed our lives, by optimizing existing businesses and generating new ones. But now, we see that 5G will go farther, faster and will bring major changes to individuals, to our homes, to businesses and organizations,” explained Mr. Yang Chaobin.

Among the new capabilities and services that 5G will provide, here are a few examples:
 For individuals: Connected cars, Multi-language communication, AI cameras, VR Entertainment, 4K IPTV, guide helmets for the visually impaired. It is estimated that 90% of smart device users will use intelligent personal assistants;

– At Home: new services such as Healthcare robots, education robots; Home will be everywhere with Holographic communication, smart home. It is predicted that 12% of homes will use intelligent service robots;

– For Companies and Organizations: 5G opens unlimited business opportunities, ranging from Autonomous Transportation, Drone Logistics and Surveillance, Flight WiFi, Customized Manufacturing, Safe City, Crowd Management, Smart Grid, Robotics and Smart Government Services. 86% of enterprises will use AI.

To ensure a solid foundation for a healthy 5G ecosystem, Huawei will work closely with telecom operators and other parties to encourage designing, developing and enabling tests, trials and verification of 5G applications in order to help create a digital Thailand. Additionally, Huawei’s Innovation Center will serve as an ideal training ground for students who will benefit from their hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, and will also encourage and develop the country’s talent pool.
